Synopsis

After dying in her world of corporate drudgery, Mira awakens in a brutal fantasy realm where everyone is born with a magical 'Chain' — a fixed magical affinity enforced by binding law. Only the lowest-born have no Chain, considered worthless. Mira, however, discovers she can bond with Shade-spirits, entities that break the Chain rule and are hunted as abominations. Now she must navigate a society that fears what she can do, while a conflicted Chainkeeper, once a friend, now an enforcer, is determined to stop her from destabilizing the world. But the Chainkeeper has his own secret: his Chain is slowly killing him, and only Mira's forbidden bond might save him. A tale of breaking rules not for rebellion, but for survival.
